Good news for Harold and George!

They get to keep their home! These gerbils' were in danger of losing their home when they kept escaping. Their family loved them dearly but feared their cat would harm them if they continued to escape. Well, the family was thrilled to learn that the problem wasn't their pet choice, but their cage! The pet store that sold them their gerbils also sold them a completely inappropriate cage. Plastic cages are never suitable for gerbils, a species that can chew right through plastic without slowing down! The ending that makes us happiest is when we can help an animal keep his loving family.

We were able to provide a happy ending for these guys just by answering a question. We are happy to offer care advice and recommend books that can help anyone make the right choices. Read our care sheets and/or contact us if you need more specific help, and if you're considering a new pet, remember that every species is different--study the pet you're interested in before you get them--read books, visit websites, and talk to friends who are experienced and responsible. Pet stores rarely offer enough advice to keep a pet properly, and frequently they give *wrong* information as well. We don't work to sell things for profit, so we're not giving advice to sell a product, but because we care about creating happy human/animal relationships. If we can't answer your question, we'll refer you to a vet or other resource that will.
