I adopted a hamster back in July. He is very much loved by our classroom. Even the other teachers and our custodian like to see him. We go for visits in the morning, and he loves to roll the hallways in his ball, (before the students arrive of course!) When he is back in the room in his ball, the children are very careful of him. They love to give him a pat before he goes back to his home. He loves all of his attention, and has always been very gentle and wonderful around the children. They like to write stories about him. He has a summer "condo" that he spends his vacations. (at my home). He has two levels on a 10 gal aquarium which he enjoys. He gets lots of fresh veggies, and fruit for treats. He likes to have his long hair brushed with a toothbrush! He gets a real 'spa' treatment!
He is very loved, and cared for like a prince. He is the most wonderful pet.
Thank you so much for all you do to make these creatures available for adoption. He makes our day!
Best Wishes, :-D

Here is my new hamster Sudsy. Thanks sooo much for the help, Crystal.

The kids and I have been enjoying Rocky's company so much! The
youngest and I are always eager to get him out of his cage and he is
very docile and never bites. Of course catching him is another
matter--he views his spacious cage (see picture) as his "range" and he
likes to assert his freedom! Even the surly teenaged daughter can't
resist but tell anyone listening how cute Rocky is.
Thanks for helping bring Rocky into our lives--he's great.

The guinea pigs have adjusted to their new home. Patches has had his named shortened to Patch. Chewy has been renamed several times, but to date Whistle and/or Squeaker are the most frequently used one. My 4yr old keeps renaming him. My sons are enjoying both of them. I hope you enjoy the pictures. And thanks again.
Hoping the saying is true, that a picture IS worth a thousand words. Here are 19,000 words then! We're all busy, all good.

Thank you so much for brightening our lives with these two precious hamsters. WE are so lucky to know you now. Maybelle and Dart had a good first night at our home. The kids are absolutely thrilled.

Thank you both for helping us adopt Brisby/Aria (now Frizby) from Raleigh Rodent Rescue in February. She is a delight! We take pleasure in her activities, and our old Lucy Rat greatly enjoys her companionship. Frizby might be part squirrel, because we find that she frequently removes the largest pellets from her food and hides them in the bedding.
Here is a recent photo of Frizby and Lucy. Frizby is the brown (agouti) girl on the left.

Leo cataloged everything adoptee Hammer stuffed in his cheeks!
I just wanted to send you an update on Jelly. He seems to be adjusting
well to his new home! He loves his wheel, and has had a couple runs in
the ball. I've also put him in the bathtub a couple times to have some
space to run around. You're right that he'll eat just about anything!
He's been eating plenty of his dry food, and I've slowly introduced him
to broccoli, carrots, and celery so far, and he likes them all.
I took a few pictures and put them on our website.
Thanks again for letting me know about Jelly, and letting me adopt him.
He's been a joy to have around!

Henrietta's new Mom, Keary, writes:
Attached are some new pictures of henrietta running around on my bed. She loves to explore and when I let her loose in living and dining room she runs at a blazing speed sniffing everything in sight. She loves to climb on anything and tries to get over the blockades that keep her in certain areas of the house. Henrietta is a reckless hedgehog that will take flying leaps to freedom if you don't keep an eye on her at all times! The moment I would take my eyes off her she used to jump off the couch and run wild around the room! Needless to say after the first two leaps we ended her playtime on the couch and keep her safe on the floor.
Thanks for intoducing this wonderful girl to my life!

"My ex mother in law stayed over last night and had her sewing machine so we made my first 'cuddle cup'. I put it in his cage and this morning I see he must have been in it all night cause it is full of poop. LOL! When we first put it in he was so cute...talking to it and popcorning all around it.
He is already starting to come around. He cleaned out his hay rack in a matter of hours and has discovered the joys of cucumbers and spinach leaves :) He likes the rest of his veggies/fruits too, but those seem to be his favorites so far. I did get to hold him for awhile last night...
I am just in love with him :) I can't wait to get him a clean bill of health so I can introduce him to Cookie."

I just wanted to say hello and share a few recent pictures of Freddie! He's still the world's sweetest hamster and we love him dearly!! He's taken a real liking to playing in a tissue box!
Hi,
I recently adopted a guinea pig Rodney from you. I wanted to let you know that he is doing great and we adore him. He and my other pig Frankie aren't exactly the best of friends, but they are living side by side in two large cages and they seem to appreciate the company even though they bicker over who's boss during floor time!. Thanks for everything you all do for these little guys!
I also wanted to let you know that I've chosen RRR as our featured animal welfare group to be featured on the front page of our website (Love'm and Leave'm Pet Sitting)... You can see the website at www.lovempetsitters.com
Thanks!

Here is a not so great pic of Jombie. We are hoping to get a much better camera soon... Jombie is doing great. He is getting more friendly all the time. And Opie will now walk right up my arm. We got them some insectivore diet from Exotic Nutrition and they love it....neither of them has met a meal they didn't like. Will get some better pics to you soon. In this pic, I hid some mealworms in his bedding and he is having to work for his food. I like to make the rabbits forage for food too....takes up time and gives them something to do. Jombie is very quick...he likes to grab the mealworms from my fingers. He is fast. I think he likes it here.

Thank you for our new rat buddies--Nimbus and Elliott. We really enjoyed our adopting experience with Kay Bishop--and the rats have acclimated quite nicely into their new Martin's Cages Skycraper. The girls just love to talk to them, carry them around on their shoulders and play tickle. Elliott sticks around home most of the time, but Numbus is the runner. One night they must have crawled under the door and somehow get into Halie's bed. She woke up screaming that the birds were biting her. We don't have birds! So then I turned on the bedroom light and saw both cute faces poke out of her blankets, we laughed and laughed!.
Thank you for this opportuntiy--

Look at Ginger's new digs! He's in heaven with his new "dad", Nathan!

Their new mommy, Deirdre, not only sent news, but some good info to share!
We haven’t completely settled on names but Frankie seems to still be Frankie and Joansie is either Joansie or Fluffernutter. I have also attached a picture of the new cage that I made for them with directions from the following website. They get along much better in the big cage. Enjoy! Deirdre
http://www.guineapigcages.com/howto.htm
Deirdre says, "These pictures are to let you know how happy the girls are in their new home. Don’t you think that they complement the colors of the cat very well? Don’t worry, they won’t get any closer to the cat than that, he is actually afraid of them. I’ll keep you posted."
His new family says: Veronica,
It was so nice to meet you today! Thank you so much for letting us adopt Freddie! He is a really sweet little hamster! It was such a great experience to adopt from your rescue group. We really appreciate the time you have spent socializing Freddie! He is truly comfortable around us and we are really enjoying him! It was such a different experience from buying a hamster from a pet store with staff that were not knowledable about the animals, which were just store stock they were trying to sell. Thank you so much for the time you invested in Freddie! It is obvious he was very well loved, taken care of, and socialized! We will continue that care that you gave him! I hope you enjoy these pictures of Freddie in his new home and with Michael this afternoon! We will keep you updated on how Freddie is doing! Thanks again for your wonderful rescue organization and for letting us adopt such a wonderful little hamster!!
Sincerely,
Carrie and Michael Forbes
Her new family let us know:
These pictures are for playgroud for Egg. Cutting
cardboard was really hard but Egg is enjoying them, so happy!!

Elizabeth reports, "Here's my new little guys and their new setup! They absolutely love it and can't stop running around! (As evidenced by the blurry running picture) =) I think they're gonna be great here!"
His new mom, Elizabeth, says: I've attached a picture of Candyman aka "the muffin man" from the 4th. He was happily exploring our mailbox. =) My family absolutely adored him!

Susan says: Hi. Myers is doing really well. He loves his wodent wheel so much that he sometimes sleeps in the aquarium with it. He has also learned to use the potty / litter tray. Thank you for everything.

I finally have some pictures of Thing. I have renamed her Moe, and she seems to enjoy her new name! I love her and we get along perfectly!
Thanks,
Austin

The girls are doing great. They're getting used to me (of course, I bribe them with treats).
"Delilah has been doing very well and loves to roll around the house. One
of my cats hangs out above her house and watches her much of the night.
She went to the vet to have her ear tag removed and also receive a clean
bill of health!"

A message from Sylvia and Annabelle's new "mom", Colleen: "Sylvia has come
out of her shell a bit more . She takes food out of my hand now instead of
running into Timber Box each time I come near her cage. She is very vocal
and knows that her first veggies come at 5:30 in the morning! The louder
the crinkling plastic, the louder she calls! Annabelle is very
outgoing. She has been the dominant one since we rescued her. She nearly
pushed her cage door open as we come to feed or hold her. She stares at my
husband and I as we eat dinner at our TV tables each night. (Their cages
are on top of the dining room table, so we always eat on the couch!) The
girls are both happy and healthy. They are beautiful and I keep their
cages up twice a week. It's a lot of work, but I've truly enjoyed their
company. Thanks for all you do for Raleigh's Rodents!"

Vera's adoptive mom, Maya says, "Vera is by far the brightest one of all my
ratties. Maybe she realizes how lucky she has been to be with me and not
that classroom of kids! I can't tell you enough how happy I am to have
her....she's an absolute sweetheart. " Vera is on the right.
